Paul Gordon Sentenced to 11 years

Convicted of manslaughter in the stabbing death of popular disc jockey Sherman Bodden, also known as “Jazzy B,” Paul Gordon has been sentenced to 11 years imprisonment in a sentencing hearing held before Chief Justice Anthony Smellie on 28 September in the Grand Court.

Employing women for night work can land you in jail

DID you know that employers can be fined or imprisoned for employing women to perform night work, with a few exceptions?Well, that’s how it is under the current law. The Women (Employment of) Act 1942 states that employers are prohibited from employing women to perform night work, which is defined as a period of 11 consecutive hours which includes the period of 10:00 pm to 5:00 am (see section 3).

Pan-African Night Began 3years ago on SU’s campus as a collaborative event
portraying the African Diaspora. This year’s Pan-African Night will be
represented as a tribute to the past, taking our roots back to the era of
slavery and colonialism. Our goal this year is to present and showcase the
origin of diversity, of people of African descent not only in Africa but
also, in the United States, Latin America and the Caribbean. As one of SU’s
biggest celebrations and a platform in highlighting the rich culture of the
African Diaspora, this year’s performances will include…..
